In an effort to encourage healthy eating habits, schools in Chilton County are promoting a Super Salad Bar Week, The Clanton Advertiser has learned.

Throughout the themed week, students in the Clanton, Ala.-based district have a chance to sample a salad from a different country each day, including Mexico and Italy. The Brazilian Summer Salad was Monday’s dish, which features corn, diced tomatoes, lime juice and red onions in mayonnaise.

“Each day the salad bar is a little different with certain vegetables or fruit that the kids have never tried before,” Rachel Rachels, the district’s child nutrition director, told the website. “It’s more than just lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber.”
