$20 million later, Michigan State reopens dining hall

Jan. 9—With five food venues and new seating, Dining Services at Michigan State University opened its South Pointe cafeteria after $20 million in renovations.

According to an article in The State News, one of the centerpieces of the new facility is Great Lakes plate, a new food venue that features regional specialties. Other stations include Brimstone Grille and S2, which feature burgers, sandwiches and salads. There is also a renovated Sparty’s c-store at the location.

“(South Pointe) is really more of an extension of your living space,” Guy Procopio, director of Culinary Services, said in the article. “We wanted different eating environments so that students can have different dining experiences.”
