Western Kentucky University is removing its temporary Topper Café from its South Lawn and restoring the green space to its former verdant glory as a recreation space, reports the WKU Herald campus paper. Topper Café was first constructed in the summer of 2012 to provide dining services during renovations to the Downing Student Union.

The 550-seat facility temporarily housed the Downing food court's station concepts, including Papa John’s, Chick-fil-A, Topper Grille, Topper Express and Izzi’s. The school's dining services provider Aramark will move Papa John’s and Chick-fil-A back to Downing but Izzi’s, Topper's Express and Topper Grille will be removed completely, the latter replaced with a Steak ‘n Shake.
