Wal-Mart Stores "popped up" with temporary locations at half a dozen colleges and universities at the beginning of the current fall term, selling everything from flat-screen TVs to ramen noodles to students setting up dorms. According to a story in the St. Joseph University Hawk student newspaper, the pop-up store at the school's Philadelphia campus made about $8,000 during its one-day existence, including the sale of a dozen flat-screen televisions. Manned by co-op students from the university's food marketing department, the "store" was set up under a temporary tent.
