Univ. of Buffalo Opens First U.S. Campus Tim Hortons
July 31, 2008
The University at Buffalo has opened the first two Tim Hortons locations on a U.S. college campus, reports the Buffalo News. They are both located on the University’s North campus, one in the Jacobs Management Center and the other in the Student Union.
The chain operates 123 locations on Canadian campuses, and has been looking to break into the U.S. higher education market. Several more college outlets are expected to open before the end of the year, including one in Plattsburgh (NY) State College and another at Canisius College in Buffalo. There was a Tim Hortons on the campus of the University of Michigan, but it closed in 2005.
The Canadian chain, which has been owned by Wendy’s since 1995, is known for its coffee and baked goods, though it also sells soups and sandwiches. It operates over 350 commercial locations in the U.S., most in the Northeast and Upper Midwest.
