UK Decides to Privatize Dining Services

The University of Kentucky plans to privatize its dining services in order to secure funding for enlarging and renovating its campus dining facilities, reports the Lexington Herald-Leader. The school says the dining enhancements are critical because it will house over 21 percent more students this fall than in fall 2013.

“A partnership with a third-party with extensive expertise in this area offers the opportunity for millions of dollars in facility investment over the next several years," Eric Monday, UK's executive vice president for finance and administration, told employees in an e-mail sent February 5th. "We simply do not have that capacity internally. Nor can we expect the taxpayers of this state to foot that bill.”
