University Dining Services at Texas A&M has adopted a plan to begin requiring all resident students to purchase a meal plan beginning with the Class of 2016 in 2012, when the renovation of the school's Memorial Student Center is scheduled to be completed. Current students will not be forced into the mandate. The meal plans they will be required to purchase will consist entirely of Dining Dollars. Currently, 88 percent of resident students voluntarily purchase meal plans, which include meal units.
