Texas A&M Pulls Back on Meal Plan Requirement Expansion

Texas A&M University has partially relented on a mandate that all students living on campus purchase a meal plan, reports The Eagle campus paper. Starting in fall 2014, only freshman who live on campus and members of the school's Corps of Cadets will be required to purchase meal plans.

The A&M System had contracted university dining to Chartwells in 2012, around the same time it had announced its intention to expand the meal plan requirement to all students living on campus, an implied connection that became controversial.
