Rutgers Names New Dining Head
September 8, 2011
Rutgers University has promoted Associate Dining Services Director Joseph Charette to executive director of dining services, reports the Daily Targum. He succeeds Charles Sams, who plans to retire at the end of September.
Charette, who had served as associate director for the past 22 years, was chosen by a search committee from among four finalist candidates for the position at the head of the $70 million department.
In other news, Rutgers also just opened its newest facility, the 58,000-sq.ft. Livingston Dining Commons. The two-story, $30.5 million building replaces the 40 year old Tillett Hall dining. It includes more than 13,000 sq. ft. of dining space and seats an estimated 900.
The Dining Commons and the adjoining Student Center are connected by a second story bridge and overlook an outdoor plaza that forms a new social activity core for the Livingston community.
