The Pennsylvania Dept. of Education is warning the state's school districts about a telephone scam targeting parents of schoolchildren with lunch accounts, reports the Sunbury Daily Item. The scam involves someone purporting to be from the local school calling parents and asking for credit card information to replenish the child's lunch account balance. Many of the targeted parents have so far been in the greater Philadelphia area but DOE officials got the word out state-wide just to be on the safe side.
