More than a third of the more than 400 food operations at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver failed to fully meet health regulations, reports the Vancouver Sun. Inspection reports compiled by the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority show that 147 of 424 venues were not compliant in at least one area of their operations, and of those, 56 were specifically cited for “potentially hazardous food” conditions usually having to do with maintaining improper temperatures. The operations covered by the analysis are confined to the temporary facilities set up to serve athletes, staff, media and the public. These range from full sit-down restaurants and dining halls to hot dog stands and beer vendors.
