Naval Station Norfolk is adding Tim Hortons, Cold Stone Creamery and Great Steak units to its onsite dining mix. The Norfolk, VA, complex is the world’s largest naval base, with over 54,000 navy personnel and 12,000 civilian staff. The Tim Hortons unit is the Canadian chain’s second location on a U.S. military base, following one at Fort Knox. It also operates at seven Canadian bases and also has an outlet in Afghanistan to serve American, Canadian and British troops serving there.

Kahala Corp., which owns the Cold Stone and Great Steak brands as well as Blimpie and Rollerz, operates outlets of its various brands at 18 U.S. military bases worldwide, plus at the Pentagon. The Norfolk contract is the product of a strategic alliance between Tim Hortons and Kahala. The partnership has produced 65 co-branded outlets in the U.S. and a dozen in Canada so far. The 4,540-sq.ft. triple-branded outlet at Norfolk will be open daily from 5 am to 11 pm.
