NJ Assembly Passes Bill Prohibiting Mandatory Meal Plans

A bill that passed the New Jersey state assembly would prohibit all four-year public and private universities in the state except Princeton University from requiring students to purchase meal plans, reports nj.com. In lieu of traditional meal plans, the bill would require schools to offer declining balance meal cards, with any money left on the card at the end of a semester being refunded. Bill A2811 is currently awaiting a vote in the state senate. If passed there it would go to Gov. Chris Christie for his signature.
