The Nashville Symphony has announced that it will be discontinuing its in-house food service operation at Schermerhorn Symphony Center, effective August 4, 2013.After that date, the Symphony will continue to rent the building for events, but says it will use a system of pre-approved, “preferred” caterers for the special events it hosts at Schermerhorn. It says it will also continue to provide concessions and bar service for all concerts and events.

In the letter to the community announcing the decision, the Symphony noted that "food service is not directly related to our core mission.  It demands a great deal of management’s attention and is, at best, a marginal contributor to our bottom line."
