The Wendy's burger chain recently expanded into Russia, with plans to open at least 180 units in the next decade. The first one opened in Moscow in June and it was quite an eye opener.

Apparently, the Russian image of the chain's famous “Wendy” (founder Dave Thomas' daughter) loses (or gains, depending on your perspective) something in the translation as the Moscow unit's rollout ceremony included two models dressed as a very much grown up Wendy.

Yes, they had the iconic pigtails and freckles of the American original, but also short dresses and red-striped stockings with stilettos that made them look more like they were promoting a premier of Pippy Longstocking Does Moscow than a burger joint known for down home wholesomeness.
