Manitowoc Co. Inc., has agreed to sell its ice-making business to an investment firm to satisfy regulators about its purchase deal for foodservice equipment manufacturer Enodis PLC. The $160 million sale to an affiliate of the investment firm Warburg Pincus includes the Scotsman, Ice-O-Matic, Simag, Barline and other ice machine and related businesses acquired from Enodis. Manitowoc was required to divest the ice business to satisfy conditions set by the U.S. Department of Justice and the European Commission to approve the deal for Enodis last October. The sale of the ice business also still requires approval by regulators.
