The Manatee County (FL) School district has had success bolstering its summer feeding program with a retrofitted school bus that makes three stops daily to provide free lunches to all county children, reports the Bradenton Herald. The bus serves an average of up to 200 students daily, with most of the participation occurring at Lincoln Park, a popular summer playground for Manatee County kids. In addition to the bus, the county serves summer meals from a dozen school sites through August 8, 10 days before the new school year begins.
