Louisiana State University may owe $750,000 for three years of back taxes for meal plans. The university, along with other schools in the state, had for a long time been exempted from Louisiana’s four percent sales tax, but the exemption was suspended in 2006 and the school failed to note the change. An additional charge of $37.50 is being added to all meal plans beginning in January 2009 to satisfy the tax going forth but the school may have to pay the levies it missed for the past three years.
