Los Angeles USD’s food and nutrition services department is partnering with the Got Milk? Campaign to send district students a message about the importance of eating a quick, nutritious breakfast. "It usually takes longer than three minutes to stand in line at a coffee shop or convenience store to buy sugary, high-fat muffins," says LAUSD Executive Chef Mark Baida. "But if families take about three minutes at home to prepare their breakfast with fresh fruits, whole grains, and low fat or nonfat dairy like milk, it can be well-balanced, time-efficient and even cheaper in most cases. At LAUSD, we're also providing breakfast alternatives students can pick up on their way to class."
