Johnnny Rockets Opens First Campus Units
September 16, 2011
The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and Oklahoma State University debuted the first two on-campus units of the Johnny Rockets chain this fall. Both are located in the student center on campus and accept payment through dining plan cards.
The menu includes the chain's signature items, including hamburgers, shakes and American fries. Both restaurants also feature lighter options like chicken sandwiches, Boca Burgers, turkey burgers and salads.
"Our student population specifically requested Johnny Rockets be a part of our 154,000 square foot campus center, and they can now enjoy all-American fare as they head back to school," says Jason Fitch, resident district manager for Chartwells Dining Services at Stockton College. "Johnny Rockets' bright and welcoming decor compliments the new Osprey Food Court and their menu items fit right in with what our students tell us they want to eat."
Stockton College cut the ribbon on the new unit on September 15th while OSU will do so in early October at its newly renovated Student Union building.
"Students are generally attracted to the restaurant experiences they grew up with, which is reflected in the shift away from solely eating in campus cafeterias," says Terry Baker, director of University Dining Services at OSU. "Johnny Rockets' high-quality food and simple atmosphere is unlike anything else we've previously offered and is sure to hit the spot for students seeking comfort food and friendly service."
