Manitowoc has agreed to sell its ice-making business for $160 million to investment firm Warburg Pincus to satisfy U.S. and European regulators as part of its purchase of Enodis PLC.
Former Nestle President of Sales Mike Mitchell has been appointed president/CEO of Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream. A former president/general manager of Nestle USA Beverage Division, he joined Nestle Beverage in 1991 and was named senior vice president of sales for Nestle Foodservices in 1995.
Asian frozen foods firm Kahiki Foods has named Don Blumenthal vice president of its foodservice division. Blumenthal previously served as vice president of marketing for Tyson Foods, vice president/general manager for ConAgra Frozen Foods and, most recently, principal of the Top Line Success, Inc., sales and marketing consultancy.
Bunge North America has purchased the assets of Mid-Atlantic Vegetable Shortening, Inc., an edible oil packaging business serving the bakery, food processor and foodservice industries in the Northeast.
Foodservice Institute of America (FIA) has earned 501(c)(3) status as a public charity focused on education and research. As a first project under its new organization, FIA is supporting the new Culinary Lab at The Ohio State University.
