HFM Holds Online Auction

The National Society for Healthcare Foodservice Management (HFM) has partnered with Charitybuzz.com to produce an industry-wide online auction. Proceeds will be used for educational scholarships to ensure that self-op foodservice professionals can attend the inaugural conference of the Association for Healthcare Foodservice (AHF) on June 6-9, 2010, at the Hilton Austin, in Austin, TX.

"HFM has produced a silent auction for years as part of its annual conference,” says Jacqui Gustafson, the vice president of sales and marketing for Dinex in Glastonbury, CT. “Now that it’s going online, we're excited about the fact that everyone in the industry is going to have an opportunity to participate and benefit from the great contributions we have coming in."

Contributions to date include a pair of tickets to a San Francisco 49ers game, two courtside seats to a Milwaukee Bucks game, a two-night stay to the Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa and other great hotel packages, a Dell Inspirion laptop computer, Canon camera, I-pod Nano and other electronics, as well as gift certificates to Tiffany & Co. and Bloomingdales.

To access HFM's online auction, log onto www.charitybuzz.com/hfm. The online auction will be open from Aug. 5. to Sept. 10. Attendees at the final HFM Leadership Conference at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, CA, will also have a chance to bid on select items during a Sports Theme Silent Auction Party on Aug. 25. These items include vacation packages and HFM Memorabilia, such as HFM's historic red phone.

The membership of HFM and the American Society for Healthcare Food Service Administrators (ASHFSA) voted in April to consolidate the two professional societies to form AHF.
