Foster Farms Buys ConAgra Units

Foster Farms has acquired the Fernando's and El Extremo foodservice brands from ConAgra Foods. The deal includes a manufacturing facility that makes products under the Fernando's and El Extremo brands. To assure a seamless transition, ConAgra and Foster Farms have entered into a transition service agreement under which they will colaborate to manage the order entry, warehousing and delivery of Fernando's and El Extremo products and to provide sales support during the transition period.

Fernando's, one of the original frozen Mexican foodservice brands dating back to 1982, features a full line of authentic heat-and-serve Mexican entrees and appetizers ranging from hand-rolled burritos to taquitos, mini-tacos and enchiladas. El Extremo frozen Mexican products are designed for school-lunch program applications.
