Fordham University and dining services provider Sodexo recently partnered with the school's Student Culinary Council (SCC) on a Go For Green promotion that supports sustainability and eco-awareness. Here's how it worked...

First, students were asked to "like" or follow Fordham Dining Services on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, and then they were asked a question about sustainability. Students who answered correctly got a chance to try for a hole-in-one on a mini-golf putting green set up outside the Marketplace dining hall. those who succeeded got to select a prize, either a “Choose to Reuse” mug, a to-go container or a Sodexo Mindful water bottle.

"The Going for Green Promotion was such a great event,” said SCC Marketing Committee Co-chair Corina Tse in a news release about the event. “Students were genuinely excited to get an opportunity to win prizes by playing mini golf in the Marketplace. It was really awesome to see student engagement and interaction with Sodexo and members of the SCC.”

According to the release, the promotion resulted in a 15.9 percent increase in Facebook “likes” and 51 new page likes in one week. Fordham Dining's Facebook reach is now up 14.9 percent of the student body and since the beginning of the academic year, it has also increased its Twitter and Instagram followers by fifty percent.
