Marietta (GA) City Schools is closing its warehouse and will taking direct shipments to its school sites from vendors as a result of a recent charge from a former warehouse manager that expired food had been served in school cafeterias, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Investigations of charges made by Howard Clotfelter to CBS Atlanta in September indicated that expired food had been served at two schools and that the district's warehouse, which costs about $100,000 annually to operate, suffered from inventory control inefficiencies.
