Chartwells has completed its upgrades to the Comet Café in the University of Texas-Dallas Student Union with the opening of a Subway franchise on February 4. Other concepts in the Comet Café food court include Coyote Jack’s Grill, the Chef’s Table, a sushi bar and Chick-fil-A, as well as a variety of soups, salads, chips and beverages.

Comet Café gives students and campus visitors a place to catch a bite to eat now and will remain a retail dining alternative later when construction is completed for the new dining hall next to the Student Union. Chartwells’ main challenge in renovating the food court was to open up the servery without adding any square footage. To effect that, cash registers were moved out farther from the servery, while fresh sushi production was moved to the back kitchen to save front-of-the-house space.

In addition to Comet Café and the upcoming dining hall, Chartwells also manages the Coffee Corner in the School of Management, and The Pub in the Student Union at UT-Dallas.
