Big Apple Concessions Soar

The two new ballparks in the New York City market generated record per caps (amount spent per person on food, beverage and merchandise) on their respective opening days, reports Sports Business Daily. The Yankees hit a per cap of more than $60 in food and merchandise sales at their April 16 home opener at the new Yankee Stadium. The Mets had hit $40 when they opened Citi Field three days earlier. Attendance at the Yankees game was 48,271 while the Mets drew 41,007.

Concessions at the new Yankee Stadium is being handled by Legends Hospitality Management, the new joint venture between the Yankees and the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. The Mets’ concessionaire is Aramark.
