Ball State names interim director to succeed Jon Lewis

Longtime assistant director of personnel and administration Karen Adkins will temporarily fill role of celebrated director who passed away recently.

Ball State University has appointed Karen Adkins as interim director of campus dining services, succeeding Jon Lewis, who passed away in early October. Adkins, who has served as assistant director of personnel and administration for 14 years, left Dining Services at the beginning of this year to take on the role of director of conference services for the university, a position she will retain.

Adkins began her tenure at Ball State in 1986 as a supervisor in dining.

"We are very fortunate to have [Adkins'] deep knowledge and experience with BSU's dining operation,” said Leisa Julian, associate vice president for business and auxiliary services, in an email to the university. “She is able to immediately step in and provide steady leadership and guidance during this difficult time of transition after the passing of our valued colleague, Jon Lewis, and I am grateful for her willingness to do so."
