After three years and $29 million, Appalachian State University has opened its new Welborn Cafeteria Central Dining Facility, reports the Appalachian. The new venue retains all the stations that were popular in the dining hall it replaces, including Tex-Mex favorite Habanero’s, but also adds some new options such as Rivers Street Grille. Among the features of the venue are stained glass windows, a spacious central hallway with high tables and chair abutting Rivers Street Grille on one side and Sanford Commons on the other, as well as a skywalk accessing the Rivers Street Parking Deck. The new Welborn has seating for about 1,000, with 660 additional seats in the adjacent Sanford Commons.
