Getting kids to eat their veggies is tough. Yet school FSDs face another recurring obstacle, besides the kid-factor, when trying to increase fruit and vegetable consumption: lack of funding. Recognizing that school food service is dedicated to supporting improved children’s nutrition, the makers of Hidden Valley ranch dressings will be awarding more than a half million dollars in grants next year to elementary schools across the country.

The grant program—Love Your Veggies—is a partnership between the makers of Hidden Valley ranch dressing (owned by The Clorox Company), the School Nutrition Association and its foundation, and the Produce for Better Health Foundation.

Each grant will support an elementary school in developing a program offering fresh vegetables and fruits beginning in March 2008 and lasting throughout the school year. Each school grant will consist of $10,000 in direct funding and a one-time donation of Hidden Valley® ranch dressings. For more information visit www.LoveYourVeggiesGrants.com
