For the past 49 years, the Hennessy Trophy has been presented to the United States Air Force installations judged to have the best food-service programs. The judging is conducted by distinguished members of the wider foodservice community, including representatives from both commercial and noncommercial segments, who travel around the world to tour and evaluate the competing operations.
Among the "Hennessy Travellers" who visited the various competing installations around the world and judged their foodservice operations was SFM President Russ Benson.
This year, Kirtland (NM) Air Force Base was named the winner in the singlefacility category while Hurlburt (FL) Field won the multiple-facility category.
In individual categories, the winners were:
the 919th Services Flight at Duke Field, FL (Air Force Reserve Command award);
the 140th Services Flight at Aurora (CO) Air National Guard Base (Air National Guard award);
the 702nd Munitions Support Squadron, Buechel Air Station, Germany (U.S. Air Forces in Europe Food Service Small Site award).
the 90th Space Wing, F.E. Warren AFB, WY (Air Force Space Command Missile Feeding award).
The Hennessy Awards are based on the entire scope of an installation's foodservice program. Winners have to display excellence in management effectiveness, forcereadiness support, food quality, employee and customer relations, resource conservation, training and safety awareness.
