Then and now, the Bear’s Den at the University of Maine in Orono, serves as a center-of-campus retail location inside the bustling student union. It’s remained a busy spot through the years, with a lot of traffic from nearby academic buildings and the library, averaging about 2,200 transactions per day. Last summer, the Bear’s Den closed for 12 weeks of upgrades to the floors, lighting, equipment, counters, technology and more.
