We host Waste Less Dinner events. Now in our third year, the events educate our students on food waste and food insecurity, and they highlight our food rescue initiatives. We host these events along with student “eco-reps” and student volunteers from Tufts Food Rescue Collaborative. Peer education is an important part of this event.

Students scrape any remaining food on their plates into barrels at the dish return area of each dining center during dinner. Then, we weigh the waste and post the results as an infographic for students to see. As a follow-up, multiple Scrape-Your-Plate events occur during the year.
