Unidine Buys Stake in Fresh City

Unidine Corp. has purchased a 49 percent stake in City Fresh Foods, Inc., a minority-owned business enterprise operating in the education, senior services, government and business dining sectors. Based in Boston, it serves over 35 clients.

"In partnering with Unidine, City Fresh will receive an infusion of capabilities and resources that will help us to build the business, expand meal distribution and create new jobs for our communities," says City Fresh Foods President and CEO Glynn T. Lloyd.

"Unidine will gain additional perspective into how to serve the diverse needs of ethnic markets, making us better equipped to service new and emerging clients," adds Richard B. Schenkel, President and CEO of Unidine. "City Fresh Foods is a model of how businesses can make a positive impact in the community and Unidine feels strongly about creating new job opportunities for local residents."

Based in Dorchester, MA, City Fresh Foods was founded in 1994, and currently serves freshly made, nutritionally sound, ethnically diverse meals to over 35 clients. The company supports its community by hiring residents from Boston's inner city. The company was awarded with the Massachusetts Small Business Administration's Young Minority Entrepreneur Award in 1996. It was also selected by Inc. magazine as one of the top urban businesses in the United States in 2002, 2003 and 2005.
