Sodexho Alliance has promoted George Chavel to CEO of its North American operations, succeeding Richard Macedonia, who is retiring after 39 years with the company. Chavel was group president for Sodexho’s healthcare operations in the U.S., a division with $2.5 billion in revenues.
“George Chavel has made a very strong contribution to Sodexho’s success in the U.S.,” says Sodexho Alliance CEO Michel Landel. “At every step of his career, George has demonstrated his abilities as a leader and for delivering results. George has a wealth of knowledge about what it takes to succeed in Food and Facilities Management services in North America.”
Chavel joined Sodexho in 1992 and has held a series of leadership roles in the company’s healthcare unit. He was named president of the division in 2003. He began his career with Arthur Andersen. Prior to joining Sodexho, he spent seven years in the franchising industry in the fast food segment.
