The Princeton Review's "Best 361 Colleges—2007" gave Bowdoin College top honors for "Best Campus Food." Above: a student at Virginia Tech, which was rated second this year.

In what has become an annual event reminiscent of a new Zagat-guide release, The Princeton Review has published its ratings for the foodservice offered by the campus dining departments at the 361 colleges listed in its "Best College" Guide.

The Princeton Review guide itself reviews a myriad of campus life categories ranging from academics and politics to a campus' social scene, with a subcategory that focuses solely on foodservice. While many schools are on record as finding the student ratings of as famously arbitrary, being listed among the Top 10 schools for foodservice is also considered a highly marketable honor.

The top spot this year went Bowdoin College of Brunswick, ME.

"We're proud to be recognized for the quality of our campus dining program," says Mary Lou Kennedy, R.D., Bowdoin's director of dining and bookstore services.

"But I can't take much of the credit," she adds. "That should go to our students, for the efforts in communicating and collaborating with us to develop the menus and meal programs we offer."

Bowdoin has long been listed among the college guide's "Top 10" for dining; it held second place last year and first the year before.
