Playwright FSD Gets Published!

Laura Woebbeking, the playwright FSD who was profiled in FM last March (p. 20), will have her play Mindboggling published this winter. Woebbeking heads the food & nutrition services department at Grundy Memorial Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA..

An amateur writer who has penned everything from wedding shower skits to church dramas, Woebbeking has moonlighted as the drama coach at Gladbrook/Reinbeck High School. She wrote Mindboggling, her first full-length play, especially for the school's drama program, where it was first performed last spring.

Afterwards, she submitted the manuscript to some dozen publishers. It was finally accepted by a local firm, Heuer Publishing of Cedar Rapids, which is looking to include it in its Winter 2004-05 catalog.
