Pantherberry Blue Milk, the Carolina Panthers' "Sir Purr" mascot and pep rallies have students in the Carolinas excited about nutrition and exercise.

The Southeast Dairy Association (SUIDA) and the Carolina Panthers kicked off a partnership to teach children about the importance and benefits of good nutrition and physical activity in leading healthy lives. Through the partnership, kids in the Carolinas will have the chance to become a Junior Broadcaster for the Panthers, learn important health and nutrition lessons from the Panthers Fit Squad, win a 3-A-Day of Dairy pep rally for their schools and drink Pantherberry Blue Milk served by Sir Purr during school visits.

One of the first schools to celebrate a Pantherberry-Blue Milk day was Tuckaseegee Elementary School of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district in Charlotte, NC, during National School Lunch week. Sir Purr served up "Pantherberry Milk," rumored to be his favorite drink, (1 cup lowfat milk mixed with 2 Tbsps. Berry-Blue Jell-O brand gelatin) to the young Panther fans as a tasty, fun way to build stronger bones and better bodies.

"This is a great way for young students to get involved and learn about nutrition," says Amy Harkey, MS, RD, LDN, nutritionist, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

"It's is important to find fun, creative ways to teach children about the importance of good nutrition and physical activity," says Dottie Ryan, RD, with SUDIA. "Kids love Sir Purr, the pep rallies and the drinking blue milk."
