J&J Snack Foods Corp. has acquired the Whole Fruit Sorbet and Fruit-a-Freeze fruit bar brands from CoolBrands International. J&J already markets Luigi’s Real Italian Ice and Minute Maid Juice Bars and Soft Frozen Lemonade.
“These two premium brands, fit our ever expanding portfolio of frozen novelty products,” commented J&J President/CEO Gerry Shreiber. “They will help to grow both our foodservice and retail grocery businesses.”
Whole Fruit Sorbet, available in multiple flavors, is sold primarily in pints in traditional retail supermarkets, convenience stores and club stores. Fruit-a-Freeze Fruit Bars, created in California in 1977, remain close to traditional Mexican paletas by offering a denser mouth feel than most other frozen novelties. They are available in flavors like strawberry, mango and coconut as well as a variety of flavors enrobed in dark chocolate.
