Direct feedback: Use QR codes to cultivate feedback from students
One operation found a way to gather students' opinions more often and more directly.
March 30, 2018
We know that students have opinions about dining at Maryland; we hear them directly and we see them on social media. We wanted a way to get those opinions more often and more directly, so we consulted with our Dining Services Advisory Board and came up with using QR codes on our menus to elicit feedback. We have three-sided table tents on every table in each dining hall, and at the bottom of the table tent we have placed the QR code with the words “Join the Conversation: Tell us your questions, comments and concerns.” The student response has been wonderful. We received three to seven comments a day for most of the semester. We responded to every comment that had a return email address and have posted all the comments online (with the responses we sent out).
