We held a blind, March Madness-style event dubbed Serial Cereal Series to figure out if we were serving the right cereals. We stared with 32 cereals and, for each round, I paired up a branded cereal with its knock-off version—the brand won every time. We kept track of the brackets on a large white board in the late-night coffee house where we held the weeklong event, and the campus food committee acted as the ranking committee. We were able to determine some holes in our cereal program and there were a lot of debates about superior cereals. Students take their cereals very seriously.
