A Tough Sell
September 1, 2009
Researchers at the University of East Anglia in the UK are looking for 40 women willing to consent to…wait for it…EAT CHOCOLATE EVERY DAY for a year as part of an experiment on the effect of chocolate consumption on heart disease. No word on whether the study will also address the effect of daily chocolate consumption on hip size, but then perhaps that's too obvious to merit much study.
The subjects must be menopausal, under age 75 and have Type 2 diabetes. Most of those making the cut will be required to eat two bars of “super-strength chocolate specially formulated by Belgian chocolatiers” each day. An unfortunate minority will be relegated to the control group, whose placebo will consist of regular chocolate.
C'mon ladies, it's all for a good cause…
