For decades, Sal DeGeorge had an ubiquitous presence at national operator and distributor food shows across the country and logged more face time with his company's customers that way than some teams of food marketers do in a lifetime. He passed away on December 28, 2011, at the age of 80.

DeGeorge originally joined Bridgford Foods in 1960 in its Route Sales division and in 1965 was asked to pioneer that companyís move into the promising foodservice frozen bread dough category. It was a role in which he excelled and where his success as the category expanded to frozen bread, rolls and microwave sandwiches eventually earned him a position as Senior Vice President. He continued to represent the company in its show and marketing activities as a consultant for almost a decade after his official retirement in 2001.
