An elegant salad results from the combination of just a few extra ingredients to a basic cole slaw. The Blue Cheese and pears make this salad special.

Ingredients

1⁄2 cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp. finely chopped onion
2 tbsp. pineapple juice
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1⁄4 tsp. white vinegar
1⁄4 tsp. celery seed
1⁄4 tsp. poppy seed
Fresh ground black pepper, to taste
1⁄2 cup (2 oz.) crumbled Wisconsin blue cheese
4 cups shredded cabbage
1 fresh pear, cored and diced
1⁄2 cup shredded carrot
 

Steps

1. Combine mayonnaise, onion, pineapple juice, sugar, lemon juice, vinegar, celery seed, poppy seed, and black pepper. Mix well.

2. Gently stir in blue cheese.

3. Toss dressing lightly with the cabbage, pear, and carrot in a large bowl and serve.
