Bartender Markovic makes a cinnamon syrup to add a little sweetness and earthy spice to this zero-proof drink. Grenadine and lime juice balance the flavors and a garnish of cherries provides a fruity and colorful accent.

Ingredients

Cinnamon syrup

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup water

4 cinnamon sticks, broken into thirds

Mocktail

1 oz. grenadine

¾ oz. lime juice

½ oz. cinnamon syrup

Club soda or sparkling water

Fresh, frozen or canned cherries

Steps

  1. For cinnamon syrup, combine sugar, water and cinnamon in medium saucepan over medium heat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 8 to 10 minutes until sugar dissolves, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and let cool. Strain into glass jar or bottle; discard cinnamon sticks. Refrigerate up to two weeks.

  2. For mocktail, in cocktail shaker, combine grenadine, lime juice and cinnamon syrup; shake well and pour into tall glass over ice. Add chilled club soda to top. Garnish with cherries.
