These cereal-based snacks are chock-full of naturally nutritious ingredients, such as rolled oats, dried plums, honey and almond butter. The combination of flavors and ingredients should appeal to children as well as grownups, making the sweet and crunchy snacks a good way to power up throughout the day.

Ingredients

2 cups crispy rice cereal
1½ cups rolled oats
1 cup slivered almonds
1 cup prune bits
1 cup mini dark chocolate chips
1 cup almond butter
2/3 cup honey
½ tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. grated orange peel

Steps

1. In large bowl, combine cereal, oats, almonds, prune bits, chocolate chips.
2. In microwave-safe bowl, stir together almond butter, honey, cinnamon and orange peel. Microwave on high for 90 seconds or until mixture bubbles. Stir well and add to cereal mixture, mixing until well-blended.
3. Shape mixture into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet. Chill for at least 1 hour. Store in refrigerator or freezer to keep warm.
