Pork and pears are a great team in this nicely flavored pasta dish. Soy sauce and sesame oil add an Asian flair. Spinach adds nice color to this delectable dish.

Ingredients

1 29-oz. can pear halves
1 tbsp. plus 1 tsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. soy sauce
2 tsp. sesame oil
1 lb. boneless pork, julienned
1⁄4 tsp. ground red pepper
1 tsp. vegetable oil
1 cup chopped red bell pepper
1⁄2 tsp. whole thyme
1-2 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
1 lb. ziti, cooked
2 cups fresh spinach, sliced
 

Steps

  1. Drain pears, reserving 11⁄2 cups syrup. In a bowl, combine syrup, cornstarch, soy sauce and sesame oil until smooth; reserve. Chop pears.

  2. Season pork with red pepper. In a large skillet, heat oil, add pork and stir-fry until done. Remove pork from skillet, add bell pepper and sauté 1 min. Add pears and thyme; heat through. Add pork, syrup mixture and vinegar. Cook until thickened and bubbly.

  3. In a large bowl, toss together pasta, pork mixture and spinach; season to taste.
