Mago Grill & Cantina
Chicago

Mago Grill & Cantina created the Manzanita as a Hanukkah-themed cocktail to complement the restaurant’s specialty menu that will be available for the eight days of the Jewish holiday. To make the drink, tequila is infused with apples—a common ingredient during Hanukkah—along with cinnamon, a warming winter spice. To go with the cocktail, the food side of the menu offers holiday-inspired dishes with Mexican flair.

Ingredients

1 qt. tequila
Slices of Granny Smith apples
Cinnamon sticks
1 oz. apple cider
½ oz. agave nectar
Freshly squeezed lime juice

Steps

1. Steep apples and cinnamon sticks in tequila overnight or up to several days.
2. For each cocktail, strain 1 ounce tequila into shaker. Add cider, agave, lime juice to taste and ice. Shake until well blended.
3. To serve, strain into martini glass. Garnish with lime slice.
