Green beans take on a whole new life when stir fried with sambal bajak (fried chili-pepper relish) and other Asian seasonings. Serve garnished with sliced scallions.

Ingredients

4 tsp. vegetable oil
2 finely chopped garlic cloves
1 small Thai or serrano chili, finely chopped
2 tsp. fish sauce
4 tsp. Chinese oyster sauce
2 tsp. Chinese black vinegar
1 tsp. sweet soy sauce
7 oz. trimmed green beans
4 tsp. pre-prepared sambal bajak (fried chili-pepper relish)
4 finely sliced scallions
 

Steps

1. Heat oil in wok; add next 7 ingredients. Toss and cook for 2 min., or until beans begin to soften.

2. Stir in sambal bajak; cook for 1 min. more to coat beans with paste.

3. Remove from heat, add sliced scallions, and serve.
