Beer cocktails are an increasingly popular drink of choice, especially with Millennials. Arianne Fielder of Seven Lamps was inspired to make this cocktail as an ode to her favorite style of American beer, the west coast style IPA. The hops in Sweetwater IPA give off grapefruit essence so she went with Shrub and Co.'s grapefruit shrub as a mixer and got some spice from the jalapeño tequila. Serve it in a champagne flute, like a classic Paloma.
Ingredients
1 oz. Tanteo Jalapeno Tequila
¾ oz. grapefruit shrub
¼ oz. lime juice
Ice
Sea salt
2 oz. Sweetwater IPA
Grapefruit peel, for garnish
Steps
In mixing glass, combine tequila, shrub and lime juice. Shake with ice and strain into a sea salt-rimmed champagne flute.
Pour IPA into flute. Garnish with a grapefruit twist.
